It's been a beautiful, long summer term. Room 14 children have been involved in many different exciting learning opportunities. All are blossoming in the room 14 environment. Our academic and curriculum topics are being well covered, with noticeable improvements being acknowledged and rewarded. Only tall poppies are grown in Room 14 - this golden photo may be of tall daisies because Lesley's garden doesn't grow poppies, however the same sentiment is meant!

Learning about other cultures: Tonga
Last week ( November 12), in ICT, we split the class in two.
One group searched google images for photos of Tonga and saved them into a special folder.
Group Two imported these photos into Kidspix, added their own drawing on top of the photo and recorded their thoughts on what they had learnt as they had studied Tonga.
This was all done in class time and it's not easy having your voice recorded on the spot like that!
See below for some of the results of our work........

Unpicking the Past at Town Acre 445
We went to the Museum to discover and experience what life might have been like for the new settlers who arrived in Nelson on the early ships in the 1840's and 1850's. We are learning about places of significance in Nelson and how the past has influenced what makes Nelson a special place.
